Residence in Pride’s Crossing
This large four bedroom residence is located on estate grounds in Pride’s Crossing. The design is inspired by the Shingle Style architecture characteristic of the North Shore of Boston in the 1880’s. Hidden on a small lane, the secluded site sits on a forested ridge with privacy and distant views. The north (entry) facade is a more formal interpretation of the style, with a dramatic gable creating a sweeping silhouette for the house, enlivened by a two story bay, a chimney at the study wing, and decorative detail at the peak. The garden facade to the south is more informal and contemporary, featuring a series of balconies, decks and bays, as well as an octagonal screened porch for summer evenings.
The common rooms on the first floor flow together, with generous French doors and windows to a large deck overlooking the garden. The second floor bedrooms have their own private decks, and a small deck recessed into the rooftop affords sweeping views of the coast.
